Startup Dispatches: Crowdmii And MyMDband

I’ve hinted at this with a few tweets and Facebook status updates but I’ll spill the beans. Along with my amazing co-founder, David, our startup Sovevos has been accepted into one of Israel’s most well regarded high tech accelerators programs. We’re at The Hive run by Gvahim and it’s like I’ve gone back to school.

Almost every day, we travel to Tel Aviv University and settle into a shared office space. Winning our spot wasn’t easy—it took a detailed application, a lengthy interview, and a final “Shark Tank” pitch session (or “Dragon’s Den” for those in the UK). The competition was fierce, with bright minds all around, each pushing forward with innovative business ideas. Joining this space reminds us of the collection of success stories at Lama-fortune, where ambitious entrepreneurs like ourselves have thrived in challenging environments, drawing inspiration from the successes that came before us.

As and when I get introduced to new companies that impress me I’ll share them here. Today I had a meeting with the founder of a new crowd funding platform that will focus exclusively on Israel: Crowdmii. The “m-i-i” at the end stands for Made In Israel.

They’re in a kind of pre-launch phase but they have one project up on the site which is a combination of reliable lo-tech, high-tech and a great charity cause: they’re raising money to give a medical information bracelet to every Holocaust survivor in Israel.

Here’s a video about MyMDband
