Or not. That is the question. This is a question for the entire world’s press. Why are you all following only one line of reporting on a major story.
There is an awful story from Denmark of a young girl who has been convicted of beheading her own mother. It is currently being spread across social media. Here are some of the headlines:
What’s given as the causal factor for this girl’s actions in all the headlines and even sub-headings? ISIS beheading videos.
If you don’t read the story you won’t learn the following (all of which do appear in most versions):
A court which sentenced Borch to nine years in jail heard how she became obsessed with militant Islam after falling in love with an unnamed Muslim man.
But he jilted her when he moved back to Sweden to be with his wife and children.
Nevertheless she found a new soulmate in Iraq-born Abdulla, whom she befriended after meeting at a refugee centre near her home.
It was the new 29 year old Muslim lover (and ISIS follower) called Bakhtiar Mohammed Abdulla who committed the crime with her.
The court was told that Borch had teamed up with Abdulla after being dumped by her first lover. The two planned to flee together to Syria and fight for the ISIS cause.
Borch claimed at the trial that they were ‘just good friends’ but authorities believe they were lovers
So this Danish girl, only 15, has already had at least two Muslim lovers. She’s only 15 now! How old was she when she first “fell in love” with the first lover? The one who had a wife and kids in Sweden.
And please, when talking about a 15 year old “in love” with much older Muslim men isn’t this considered to be statutory rape? Where are the feminists on this?
So my questions for the world’s journalists and editors:
- Why are you emphasising ISIS beheading videos on the Internet and downplaying the TWO REAL MUSLIM TERRORISTS who held sway over her?
- Why is statutory rape with this young girl (age of consent is 15 in Denmark) not even mentioned?
- I guess it’s kind of obvious why you’d want to keep this fact a long way from the headlines “whom she befriended after meeting at a refugee centre near her home” but as we’re asking rhetorically I’ll put it in.
- The story, as presented seems to be saying “anyone, even a pretty blonde Danish girl, can suddenly chop off a head if presented with ISIS information” – are we supposed to now fear young blondes?
We really are a long way down the rabbit hole when so many people across so many news outlets seem to agree to skirt so many big issues.
