It has been all over the news. Not one, but two, Israeli actors are set to join hit show Game Of Thrones.
As reported by Ynet:
HBO hit show casts Yousef Sweid and Ania Bukstein for its sixth season, set to premier in April; their exact roles are unclear, but are expected to be minor.
The two are expected to appear in the show’s sixth season, which is set to be broadcast on American cable network HBO in April 2016.
Yousef Sweid is an Arab-Israeli who graduated from Tel Aviv University (apartheid, much?) and Ania was born in the USSR.
Clearly, this news is too much for some in the Arab world to bear. So they have invented their own version of it, in which Yosef is palestinian and Ania is someone else.
“Winter is Coming” and it’s bringing two Palestinians along with it!
Palestinian actors – good looking ones, may we add – Yousef Sweid and Leem Lubany, are set to appear in the upcoming 6th season of HBO’s global hit TV series “Game of Thrones.”
While we’re not sure what roles the young Pali actors will be playing (though we secretly think that Daenerys and Yousef would make a lovely couple!), we’re just super excited to see them appear in a high profile show.
According to The Palestine Project, Yousef has had roles in The Bubble (2006), Agora (2009) and Inch’Allah (2012), and is also known for shows like “Homeland” and plays like “Walk on Water.”
Meanwhile, Leem has appeared in Omar (2013), Rock the Kasbah (2015) and From A to B (2014).
Mark your calendars: season 6 of the medieval fantasy epic, based on the fantasy book series by George R. R. Martin, will air in April 2016.
Referring to Arab-Israelis as “palestinian” is an old trick, but how do they erase Ania and come up with a new, palestinian actress? According to the same Ynet article above, Leem did audition and her audition video leaked online (funnily enough, Ynet refers to her as “Israeli”!).
So there you have it, folks. The Arab world sure loves their fantasy. And I wasn’t even referring to Game of Thrones.
