Actor John Altman Shocks Viewers With ‘Palestine’ Badge
John Altman, an actor whose claim to fame is playing the same character on British show EastEnders for 30 years, appeared on some other British show called Loose Women to discuss his EastEnders character.
Don’t bother watching the interview. But do you notice something about his attire?
The Daily Mail reports:
VIEWERS of Loose Women were left shocked after former EastEnders star John Altman appeared on the show today wearing a Palestinian flag badge.
The 64-year-old joined the panelists – Coleen Nolan, Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore and Stacey Solomon – to talk about his battle with alcoholism throughout the years.
However, those watching at home seemed more concerned about the “political statement” he was making, and took to social media to voice their outrage.
As the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has long been a divisive and contentious subject, fans of the series were surprised that Nick Cotton’s alter ego was given the green light by ITV.
One person wrote on Twitter: “@loosewomen Why is #JohnAltman allowed on set wearing a Palestine flag pin? Disgraceful making political statements on daytime TV.”
Another chimed in: “@itv Disgusting allowing @JohnAltman4Real on @loosewomen wearing a Palestinian flag pin.”
“Disgrace being allowed on set wearing a Palestinian flag pin. Since when did @loosewomen start being political?” a further critic barked.
I had never heard of Altman before, but a quick search shows he has made his anti-Israel views (and utter ignorance) known before.

@Palestine_ More cruelty meted out on the people of Palestine. Time for the International community to finally put an end to it all.

Look closer Boris.

Thousands of Israeli citizens are appalled by the genocide of the IDF in Gaza and beyond, but are afraid to speak out. Pray for peace.

He played a character called “Nasty” Nick Cotton. Perhaps there was not too much acting going on.
