Once upon a time there was an ABC Australia journalist called Jennine Khalik, who objected to me writing about how she politicized the horrific murder of an Arab-Israeli student by figuratively wiping Israel off the map. So she threatened to sue me.
I naturally refused to remove the article and even threatened to countersue since she posted the above letter online, implying I defamed her. Also naturally, she did not purse this further, probably realizing she was going to be out of pocket.
She subsequently left the journalism profession, reportedly due to being unable to deal with pressure from the “Israel lobby” (although I would like to think I had something to do with it).
Since then – especially following October 7th – she has felt free to tell us more how she really feels, while rendering her legal threat even more of a joke.
“Supporting the destruction of the Jewish state of Israel”
“She is racist”
“She is dishonest”
“She is promoting an incorrect and perverted version of history”
“She is promoting violence”
The world of journalism is clearly better off without her.
