A number of McCarthy-esque social media accounts have arisen to “name and shame” perceived Zionists in the film, music, and literature industries. And I am down for it – since they they are doing some of the heavy lifting so we know who to thank and support!
Zionists in Film
Zionists in Film identifies “unapologetic Zionists in the film industry who stand up for Israel”, with a view to boycotting them and their work.
Among those they identify (some of whom I have written about, some of which I haven’t) are:
- Will Ferrell
- Millie Bobby Brown
- Sarah Michelle Gellar
- Sophie Turner
- Courtney Cox
- Bradley Cooper
- Bomb Odenkirk
- Mark Hamill
- Ewan McGregor
- Hugh Laurie
- Claire Danes
- Olivia Wilde
- Jason Segel
- Keanu Reeves
- Elijah Wood
- Juliette Lewis
- Charisma Carpenter
- Jamie Lynn Spears
- Kylie Jenner
- Vanessa Hudgens
- Kate Hudson
- Amy Poehler
While some of these have definitely shown support for Israel, others have been labeled a “Zionist” for showing support for Jews (Charisma Carpenter) or even mere guilt by association (Millie Bobby Brown). It seems to the people behind the account, “Zionist” is anyone who tolerates the existence of Jews.
Zionists in Music
Zionists in Music seems to be a “companion piece” to Zionists in Hollywood.
Among those they identify (some of whom I have written about, some of which I haven’t) are:
- Lady Gaga
- Vanessa Carlton
- Jennifer Lopez
- Regina Spektor
- Josh Groban
- Alicia Keys
- Pharrell
- Justin Bieber
- Madonna
- Rihanna
- Will.i.Am
Again, some of these artists seem to be labelled “Zionists” on very tenuous grounds. For instance, Jennifer Lopez once signed an anti-BDS petition, but also recently signed a terrible “ceasefire” petition.
Zionists in Publishing
Zionists in Publishing is the same ol’ sh*t, different medium. Among those they try to backlist for Zionism are:
- Lynn Painter
- Taylor Jenkins Reid
- Neil Gaiman
- J.K Rowling
- Pierce Brown
- Talia Carner
- Sarah J. Maas
- Rick Riordan
Yet again, they seem to define “Zionist” as anyone tolerating Jews or a Jewish state. For instance, authors like Lynn Painter and Neil Gaiman seem to be supportive of Israel and a future Palestinian state.
