Today, I noticed that Indigenous former Olympic champion Nova Peris, also an Olympic Games commentator for Australia’s Channel 9, tweeted the following photo from behind the scenes:
Notice anything?
That’s right. Nova is proudly wearing a Star of David.
What makes this even more remarkable is she is doing this as a show of solidarity with the Jewish people at a time where hatred of Israel and the Jewish people is running rampant even in the usually chill Australia. And she is doing this on television, showing her support to millions of people.
Not only that, but Nova has also been wearing the “Bring them home” hostage tags to public events:
It is important that we, the Jewish community, show Nova our appreciation.
Just as she is showing us we are not alone.
Update 5/2/24 9:20: Nova tells me she got the Magen David when she was at Masada in Israel earlier this year.
