Hollywood actor and director Rob Reiner was just interviewed by Fox News on the first night of the DNC.
He was asked specifically about what he felt about the rabid, anti-Israel protests going on outside the convention, and his response was so indicative of what is wrong with many (but obviously not all) Jews on the left (from 00:44 in):
“Well, that’s what’s … great about America. That we have the right to protest, and that we give everybody the freedom to protest. It’s in the Constitution. And this campaign is about protecting the Constitution and protecting those people’s right to protest outside.”
I don’t deny that freedom of speech is a good thing, and something great about the US. But this is all he had to say about the protests, just hours after some of the protesters broke through multiple rounds of fencing and nearly breached the event’s security perimeter? The very same protests in which protesters praised the “Palestinian resistance” aka Hamas, called for “Intifada”, and burned the US flag?
And it’s not like Reiner doesn’t understand the evil of Hamas and those who support them. He’s no Mark Ruffalo.
So why couldn’t he condemn them as being evil for supporting this “epitome of evil” and expressing their desire for the destruction of America?
