Let’s Not Forget: Hamas Still Needs to Be Eliminated

On October 7, 2023, the world witnessed a horrifying act of terror when Hamas launched an attack on Israel, culminating in the massacre of innocent civilians. This was not just an isolated incident, but a deliberate act of violence designed to instill fear and disrupt peace. The attack was devastating in its scope, and as someone who recently visited Israel and spoke with survivors and families of victims, I feel an urgent responsibility to reflect on the tragedy and emphasize why Hamas still needs to be eliminated from the region.

Hamas is a terrorist organization with a well-documented history of violence against civilians. Their ideology, rooted in hatred and extremism, seeks not just to attack military targets but to terrorize communities indiscriminately, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity. The events of October 7 proved, once again, the sheer brutality of Hamas’s operations, as they targeted unsuspecting civilians in a calculated attempt to spread fear and instability.

The scope of the violence was staggering. Families were ripped apart, lives were destroyed, and communities were left in shock. Children were taken from their homes, women were abducted, and countless innocent civilians were murdered. This attack was not about fighting an occupying force or pursuing political aims—it was about spreading terror and making people live in constant fear. It was about breaking the spirit of those who were simply living their daily lives, working, loving, and dreaming of peace.

As a Muslim and a human being, I find it deeply troubling to witness such violence carried out in the name of religion or political ideology. The actions of Hamas go against everything that Islam stands for—peace, compassion, and respect for human life. While no group or nation is without fault, there is a vast difference between defending one’s home and targeting innocent civilians. The ongoing actions of Hamas are not just a threat to Israel, but to the very moral fabric of humanity.

I have personally met with families affected by the violence, heard their stories, and seen the emotional scars left on those who survived. The trauma is unimaginable, and the ripple effects of this terror will be felt for generations. Hamas’s actions are not just a direct attack on Israel, but on the possibility of peace and coexistence in the Middle East. The victims of these attacks—whether Israeli, Palestinian, or from any other background—deserve to live in a world where peace is a reality, not a distant hope.

The broader objective of Hamas is clear: they want to destroy Israel, to destabilize the region, and to perpetuate a cycle of violence that ensures their continued power. Hamas does not seek peace; they seek conflict. They have repeatedly demonstrated that they are willing to sacrifice their own people for the sake of their violent agenda. Instead of building schools, hospitals, and infrastructure, they pour their resources into weapons and terror campaigns.

What makes Hamas’s actions even more dangerous is their ability to manipulate and radicalize individuals, turning them into tools of destruction. They exploit the suffering of the Palestinian people to further their own ends, convincing young people to sacrifice their lives for a cause that offers no hope for a better future. This is not a struggle for justice—it is a struggle to maintain power through fear and violence.

There can be no lasting peace in the Middle East as long as Hamas remains a powerful force. The organization thrives on conflict and chaos, and its existence ensures that the region will remain mired in violence. The international community, Israel, and those who truly seek peace must unite to eradicate Hamas and its ideology of hate.

Eliminating Hamas is not just about defeating a terrorist group; it is about removing the threat of indiscriminate violence against innocent civilians. It is about ensuring that future generations will be able to live in a world where peace, security, and human dignity are the norm, not the exception. Allowing Hamas to persist is to condone the ongoing suffering of countless innocent people, and to deny the possibility of reconciliation and coexistence.

The tragedy of October 7, 2023, is a stark reminder of why we must never forget the threat posed by Hamas. The victims of that day—whether Israeli or Palestinian—were not responsible for the violence that befell them. They were simply people caught in the crossfire of a conflict perpetuated by an extremist ideology. The pain of their families, the trauma of the survivors, and the horror of the attack are not something we should let fade into the background of history.

We must remember the faces of those who were lost, not just as statistics, but as individuals with hopes, dreams, and loved ones. We must stand in solidarity with those who have suffered and continue to suffer because of Hamas’s actions. And we must remain committed to the idea that terrorism, in any form, has no place in the world.

The path to peace will not be easy, but it is achievable. The first step is the complete elimination of Hamas and its violent ideology. We must not allow groups that thrive on fear, hatred, and division to dictate the future of the region. We must work together to build a world where dialogue replaces violence, where cooperation replaces conflict, and where every person, regardless of their background, can live without fear.

In the aftermath of such atrocities, it is easy to be consumed by anger and grief. But we must channel that anger into action. We must hold accountable those responsible for the violence and work toward creating a future where such acts of terror are no longer possible. That future is possible—but only if we stand united in our determination to eliminate terrorism and to build a world where peace is more than just a dream.

Hamas’s continued existence is a threat to the safety and well-being of countless individuals. The violence and hatred they spread have left deep scars on all those affected. But we must never forget the victims, and we must continue to fight for a world where peace is possible. The elimination of Hamas is not just a necessity for Israel, but for the future of the entire region. It is time for the world to unite in this cause, for only by standing together can we hope to end the cycle of violence and build a better, more peaceful world for future generations.
