Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is currently holding a the National Symposium on Unifying Anti-Racist Research and Action, an event aiming “to encourage participants to engage in critical conversations around systemic racism and its impact on local and global communities.”

That quote on the event banner is reminiscent of the famous Pastor Martin Niemöller poem:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
But don’t think the symposium will be tackling hatred of Jews.
Rather, it is promoting it.
Exhibit A: Sarah Schwartz, from the Human Rights Law Centre, gave a presentation at the symposium so revolting, it needs to be seen to be believed.

Note how she paints Australian Jews as privileged, racist, only caring about antisemitism to the exclusion other forms of racism, and malevolently working with politicians for nefarious purposes. These tropes are antisemitic and can only serve to increase hatred of Jewish people.
At the same time, she undermines the very real menace of antisemitism, painting us as irrationally “scared of protesters” (who include many violent and antisemitic individuals) and anti-immigrant (we are fearful of a rise in antisemitic hate crimes, which has occurred as more Gazans are let in to Australia).
And she also attacks Christian friends who not only support Israel but actually protest against antisemitism.
As the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies tweeted:
The presentation would not have been out of place in antisemitic gatherings throughout the ages.
It contained it all – laughter as Jews were the subject of public mockery, images of Rabbis as the subject of ridicule and the baseless demonisation of a community which has done nothing to warrant such hatred.
We are loathe to ever make comparisons with pre-war Germany, but these are scenes which would not have been out of place in Nazi propaganda or a 1930s Bavarian Beer Hall.
The fact that this was an anti-racism training event and that the offensive speaker was from the Human Rights Law Centre is perverse and disturbing.
I imagine she’ll argue she is only referring to “Dutton’s Jew”, but that is her code for “Zionist Jew”, which is well over 95% of us.
Serious questions need to be asked, not just as to whether taxpayer funds should continue to be provided to QUT, which facilitated this hateful forum, but also who is really funding Schwartz and her organization the Jewish Council of Australia (JCA). They have come out of nowhere following October 7, pretending to represent Australian Jews, while only representing an extremist fringe, yet certain news stations platform her as a legitimate representative of Australian Jews.
My guess is she is at least partially funded by antisemitic terror supporter Nasser Mashni, who needs a “beard” like Schwartz and JCA to hide his antisemitism and that of almost everyone in his movement.
Speaking of whom…
Exhibit B: Mashni was treated like a rockstar, as he seemed to fancy himself as a standup comedian, “borrowing” material from elsewhere.

But that wasn’t the worst of it (mockery of Anglo Saxon Australians notwithstanding). He couldn’t help having a go at Jews, including Jewish refugees who found refuge in their ancient homeland:

while engaging in his usual lying and gaslighting, like he does here when he implies he is portrayed as a barbarian because of his skin color (and not, say, because he has refused to condemn Hamas, and even liked tweets celebrating October 7), while bemoaning not being treated as an Australian at the same time as painting Australia as an illegitimate colony:

In a similar vein, Mashni paints being asked by a journalist about his violent criminal past (convictions for kidnap, violence and threatening behavior) as endemic of institutional racism in Australia (which he again refers to disparagingly as the “colony”), and not pertinent, say, given his refusal to condemn the violence of Hamas:
No @iamthenas, it is clear @PatsKarvelas asked about your violent past in light of your refusal to condemn the violence of Hamas, and not because of racism in Australia. pic.twitter.com/gWswHCjgR3

This is just a sample of what has been going on at this “anti-racism” symposium. I suspect we will discover more disturbing things as more footage is released.
