Yesterday, British comedienne Dawn French posted this video voicing her objecting to Israeli actions against Gaza, while mocking our October 7 experience:
Comedian @Dawn_French seems to mock the deaths of 1,200 in Israel on 7th October. In a childish voice she says, “Yeah but you know they did a bad thing to us.”

Perhaps if one of your relatives had been raped, tortured & murdered as a civilian, or still a hostage, you might have… pic.twitter.com/Q5LLbNpuBc
The backlash from Jews and anyone with a sense of decency was swift, and earlier today French issued this apology:

I call BS.
The video was so one-sided, I fail to see how she meant it any other way but to mock and condemn Israel.
She claims “my heart broke” for “the many innocent people and their families that were killed, tortured, r@ped and kidnapped” and finds it “appalling” that hostages are still held. Yet she never once posted anything following October 7. Nor has she even once called for Hamas to release the hostages.
Her apology also equates Israeli’s government with Hamas – an odious comparison – and there is an implied comparison of what is happening in Gaza with the Holocaust – an antisemitic comparison at that.
And her X bio contains a bunch of flags, including the “palestinian” one. No Israeli flag though.

So yeah, I call BS.
And hopefully Marks & Spencer, co-founded by the Jewish Michael Marks, and which has deep historical connections to Israel through its founders and past business dealings, will call French to let her know they won’t be needing her services anymore.
We are down to the last 24 hours of our fundraising campaign:
