Meet Brett Dahan:

A horticulturist who runs the Garden of Eden Nursery in Mebourne’s Albert Park with his twin brother Scott, Brett believes his educational background in science and hands-on experience enables him “to contribute to the success of the nursery’s mission.”
I’d say he has failed, unless their mission is to go bankrupt.
You see, Brett posted the following after an Israeli girl applied for a job at his nursery:

They say gardening teaches patience, empathy, and respect for life. Perhaps Brett should spend more time among the plants – they seem to have more humanity than he does.
And intelligence. While he thought mocking Irit’s name was a good idea, I’d like to point out that his surname – Dahan – is a Hebrew surname of Sephardic/Mizrahi origin! And it is often derived from the Arabic “duḥān” (دخان) meaning “smoke” – which I suspect is appropriate for Brett who looks like he dabbles.
And don’t get me started on his business’ name The Garden of Eden coming from the Torah!
Alas, his vile behavior has earned him and his nursery news coverage in which he has done himself no further favors:
When the Herald Sun called Mr Dahan he said he “did not know” why he had sent the message.
He then repeatedly failed to answer any follow up questions.
The Garden of Eden nursery has taken down its social media accounts, no doubt due to the backlash they have received.
Dahan might be charged under the Equal Opportunity Act, since it is illegal to discriminate against a job applicant based on their nationality. There is also talk of a possible rally being organized outside the nursery this coming week.
And then there’s the flood of negative reviews being posted.
Interestingly, the below review was posted on Yelp in 2016:

so Brett Dahan’s behavior might be a feature, not a bug.
Either way, this horticulturist might just have reaped what has sown.
