By now I am sure you have all heard about the devastating terror attack that was perpetrated in my birthplace of Australia: Two gunmen shot dead at least 11 people at a Hanukkah event being held at Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
The gunmen, as I am sure you are also aware, were not Buddhists. One has already been identified as Naveed Akram, reportedly of Pakistani descent.

As I said, not Buddhists.
At the same time, a heroic bystander named Ahmed al Ahmed tackled and disarmed one of the gunmen, preventing further casualties:

Enter Hash Tayeh, who had the chutzpah to offer his thoughts and prayers:

Chutzpah, because this is the same guy who has fanned the flames of hatred against the Australian Jewish community, whether it be his chant of “All Zionists are terrorists,” promoting Hamas talking points, or his outright antisemitism.
That’s right. It are antisemitic terror supporters like Hash Tayeh and Nasser Mashni of APAN – who incidentally also sent “love, care, and solidarity” our way – who have helped create the climate in which this terror attack was fomented.
But Hash’s chutzpah goes even beyond this. You see, he is upset the media have not been screaming out that the hero of the day was a Muslim man:

This is the same media that have not been screaming out the fact that the terrorists were also Muslim – but I guess Hash is ok with that part.
Which tells you everything you need to know. When Jews are murdered, the priority for people like Hash Tayeh isn’t condemning the ideology that produced the killers, or taking responsibility for the incitement they themselves have pushed for years. It’s optics. Narrative management. Score-keeping.
Yes, a Muslim man acted heroically – and he deserves genuine praise, without agenda or exploitation. But that heroism does not cancel out the fact that the attackers emerged from the very climate of hatred that Hash, Mashni, and their ilk have helped normalize.
