Meet Betty Taylor:
Betty is a veteran campaigner against domestic violence, with a particular interest in preventing the violent deaths of women, stalking and the objectification of women. In recognition of her”significant service to the community through domestic violence initiatives and organisations”, Betty was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours.
Which makes this tweet of hers profoundly disturbing:
I have blurred the faces of the school children posted by this anti-violence crusader. But either way, Betty has essentially put a target on the backs of all members of the Jewish community, let alone Jewish students and especially those attending Moriah College. She seems to be suggesting the Jewish community supports the killing of over 20,000 children in Gaza.
Words matter. As someone dealing with domestic violence for so long, Betty Taylor knows that better than most. Or at least she should.
Meanwhile, this champion of violence against women has not uttered a word about the murders, rapes, and kidnapping of Israeli women on October 7. And unless I missed something, I also don’t see any tweets from her about the Bondi massacre.
Betty Taylor has proven that her commitment to ‘preventing violence’ ends where her personal prejudices begin. Australia should stop honoring those who contribute to the breakdown of social cohesion.
At a time of numerous calls to strip former Australian of the Year Grace Tame for leading chants of “globalise the intifada” at a rally yesterday, I call for Betty Taylor to be stripped of her Order of Australia.
