About a month ago, former Australian of the Year Grace Tame “apologized” for suggesting that the idea Hamas murdered and raped Israeli women on October 7 was “debunked propaganda.”
As I wrote at the time, this was hardly an apology for a number of reasons, including the facts she did not apologize for her chants to “globalize the Intifada.”
Now Grace Tame is reminding us why her apology was anything but – judging by what she said at yesterday’s ‘Global Day for Gaza’ rally in Sydney’s Hyde Park.
Tame began her address by taking aim at the government over its support for Israel.
‘There is nothing really I can add to this conversation because we all know the truth – we know of Israel’s violent establishment in 1948, of the brutal occupation, of the racialised policies, of the settler violence, of our own governments complicity in all of these atrocities,’ Tame said at Sunday’s protest.
‘We know about the cynical weaponisation of antisemitism which is just another tool to distract and divide us.’
Tame then pointed to two men in the crowd holding a sign that read ‘Jews against the occupation’.
‘This is not about religion, its not about that, it’s not about hatred, or valuing any individual’s or any group’s life ahead of any other.
‘It’s about stopping the violence.’
The former Australian of the Year also urged protesters to ‘use their power with every dollar they spend’.
‘Don’t buy the Daily Telegraph, don’t buy any Murdoch rag. I’ve got some uses for them but I won’t name them today…’ she said.
‘Do it in every sphere you have influence.’
Yeah, Grace Tame's "apology" last month was complete bollocks.

She is not sorry about doubting Jewish women who said they were raped, just like she is not sorry for helping create a climate of fear for Jews in Australia.
Antisemitism is not being "weaponized", Grace. It is being… https://t.co/uZCrmNyFNJ pic.twitter.com/jiWPp08kja
No, Grace. Jews and our allies are not “weaponizing” antisemitism. We are pointing it out when it very much exists – including when people like you call for the end of the Jewish state, deny us our right to self-determination, call to ‘globalize the Intifada’ (which means violence against Jews worldwide), deny Jewish women were raped on October 7, and invoke antisemitic tropes.
pic.twitter.com/rVK5EJVEyq Grace Tame is no hero. Screaming “Globalize the intifada” means violence against Jews — not theory, not rhetoric, but reality. Her fellow Australians were murdered by someone acting on that exact call. Honoring this language is disgraceful. Some…

After losing speaking gigs over her "Globalize the Intifada" chants, you might have thought former Australian of the Year Grace Tame might be in damage control mode.

Alas, she just made things a whole lot worse for herself, denying Israeli women were murdered and raped on Oct 7,… pic.twitter.com/qqfchmNSYz
The real weaponization going on here is the cynical deployment of the “as-a-Jew” shield: finding a handful of Jews who agree with you and holding them up as proof that nothing you say or do could possibly be antisemitic.
