Hollywood actor George Clooney recently appeared on fellow actor Drew Barrymore’s talk show. The subject turned to his wife Amal Clooney, and George casually – and inadvertently – dropped a truth bomb for the ages:

For those who don’t know (which seemingly includes George Without-a-Clueney), the Muslim Brotherhood is a Sunni Islamist movement that wants to impose Islam on the world. They oppose the kind of Western liberalism that George loves. It is an officially designated terrorist organization by many countries.
Their constitution – which Amal Clooney apparently helped with – was drafted by a constituent assembly dominated by Islamists after many liberal, Christian, and secular representatives walked out in protest, accusing the Brotherhood of trying to impose a theocracy.
Amongst other things, the constitution provided for Sharia Law as the primary source of legislation, and often phrased freedoms in vague language allowing for broad restrictions.
After this constitution was passed, Egypt was paralyzed by protests, and the military removed Egyptian President Morsi and suspended the constitution. Egypt later declared the Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, and its members were imprisoned or exiled.
In other words, George Clooney — a man who epitomizes Hollywood liberalism and never misses a chance to lecture the world on democracy — proudly cited his wife’s role in helping the Muslim Brotherhood craft a constitution based on Sharia Law. A document so fundamentally illiberal it had to be suspended by the Egyptian military.
He may not have understood exactly what he was bragging about, which would be peak Hollywood. Or he did understand, but was thinking with “Little George” – also peak Hollywood.
