Repeating a Past Mistake?

Most of you are already probably familar with the binocular gaffe of former Defense Minister Amir Peretz.  If not, here’s a reminder.

The man next to Peretz in the photo is the IDF’s new chief of staff, Gen Gabi Ashkenazi. And according to the palestinian’s Paltoday News Network, he’s just made the same mistake.

After former War Minister Amir Peretz’s famous picture looking through shut binoculars, the new chief of staff Gabi Ashkinazi makes the same mistake.

In the Beit Salem camp in the Negev desert, Ashkinzi was watching a military drill through his binoculars, however he seems to have forgotten to open the lenses.

Worth mentioning, the Israeli army sought to open the lenses of all binoculars before the drill begins so as Peretz’s mistake would not be repeated. Yet, Ashkinazi shut his binoculars and lifted it to watch the drill!

I have not heard seen or heard any other reports about this, and this is not the most trustworthy news source, to say the least. Then again, the photo does look authentic (although in these days of Photoshop, who knows).

Can anyone confirm whether or not this report is true?
