Flowers For Kim

An important news item that seems to have been completely overlooked by the mainstream media.

kim-jong-flowers.jpgGeneral Secretary Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from Mahmoud Abbas, chief of the Palestinian National Authority, on the occasion of his birthday.

The floral basket was handed to an official concerned by Palestinian Ambassador to the DPRK Mohammad Shahta Zarab on Wednesday.

The question is why is Israel’s supposed “peace partner”, and the man in whom the US and international community have placed so much stock, cosying up to a leading figure in the Axis of Evil, and the man heading the country assisting Iran and Syria with their nuclear ambitions?

This was a floral basket, right? Not a friendship treaty, not a mutual security pact, but a floral basket. Can you please explain further why this is a big deal? At the height of the Cold War, the US and USSR exchanged a great deal more than floral baskets.

It is Valentine’s Day, after all. Maybe those two guys have it goin’ on?

In fact, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright once presented Kim Jong Il with a basketball signed by Michael Jordan. That’s a bigger deal than a bunch of flowers. These are simple diplomatic gestures among countries merely trying to act civilized.

  4. Shy Guy says:

Albright was dreaming of getting Kim to compromise on certain disagreements between the 2 countries. Same with the US and USSR.

    What’s Abbas’ excuse?

    (Gee, this was a toughie!)

The Korean Central “news” agency puts out the exact same press release every time, just with different names. Often is the U.S is blamed by the “news” for the plight of Palestinians…

    Great blog Aussie Dave!

    Scroll down under that list.
“Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) — Muhammad Adib Al Hani, Syrian charge d’ affaires ad interim here, hosted a reception at the embassy on Tuesday on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong Il.
The charge d’ affaires a.i. referred to achievements made by the Korean people, saying that Syrian people are significantly celebrating the birthday of Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.
He stated that the Korean people will make positive efforts to develop the relations with Syria in all fields.”
Remember that possible reactor, and chatter about Syrians being seen going in and out of the DRPK at the time!
There’s no coincidences, and my state dept aren’t that bright apparently as the days go on. :(
