It is fair to say Barbra Streisand has a reputation as a bit of a diva (or even a lot of one). This has been compounded by the fact she did not perform on stage for 27 years.
So it may come as a surprise to many to learn why the long hiatus. Clue: it involves Israel.
The war she is referring to is of course the Six Day War, and Omar Sharif – an Egyptian – was filmed kissing the Jewish/Zionist Barbra.
The jury is still out on whether Barbra is, in fact, a diva. But she clearly is still a Zionist.
Recently, she has been using a spiral notebook to write down her thoughts on Israel, some of which may go into a memoir she’s writing. A paragraph in it began as follows: “The world envies success.”
So at worst she is a Zionist diva. Otherwise known as a Ziva.
