On Tuesday The Rabbi Was Bullied By The Sky News Presenter

This has to be seen to be believed.

Well done to the Chief Rabbi for keeping his composure in the face of that incendiary and insulting line of questioning.

    Great response by the Chief Rabbi,
    Very sad to see an ad here for a church trying to fool Jews into becoming Christian by disguising Christianity as “messianic Judaism.” It was replaced by an ad for Jewish dating when I refreshed the view, so it may have been supplied by the internet provider.

    1. It’s a general problem with Google Ads I’m afraid. You get the same missionary adds on Jewish blog sites as well as Arutz 7. All these missionaries need to do is to pay Google their money and define their ads catagory as “Jewish” and BINGO, they target all the Jewish sites. At the present time, there does not seem to be any Google option to block specific ads you find indecent or offensive.

        Well, I guess it’s just as well that they waste their money on me and not on someone softheaded enough to fall for their shtick. As it happens, dear friends of ours became gerim after leaving mainstream christianity for ‘messianic judaism’, and then later realizing that what they were being sold as judaism was anything but.

  2. Absolutely appalling, to make such a disgustingly slanderous juxtaposition to Auschwitz. The press slanders Israel all the time, but to do so like this on this occasion of all days! It is far more sickening. And they have the gall to throw this slime in the face of a Chief Rabbi no less? Only “Anti-Zionist” my left-foot!

  3. The interview confirms that Mirvis is completely out of his depth as
    Chief Rabbi – he has been pressured by the Board of Deputies not to
    mention Islamic anti-Semitism and probably also to avoid talking about
    Israel. He should have given the exact response Melanie Philips suggested when talking about this on facebook – i.e. to put the the
    blame on Sky News for pushing the false narrative about Israel. http://edgar1981.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/sky-news-increasingly-obsessive-anti.html

    1. I completely disagree with your assessment. The Rabbi should not answer like a politician or journalist but as a Rabbi and the Chief Rabbi of GB at that. He did and brilliantly so. He tackled this insidious question magnificently and if you listened to what he said, you would conclude that he was telling the journalist that this was not only an illegitimate question but was infact an anti-Semitic comment. A classic and ancient tactic of anti-semites is to blame Jews for causing anti-semitism themselves.

      We Jews are to blame for Jewish hatred because we are a lazy and inferior race – but also because we dominate the economy and have a secret plan to take over the world.

      Jews are to be hated for stubbornly maintaining their separateness – and, when they do assimilate – for posing a threat to racial purity through intermarriages.

      Jews are hated because we are pacifists and we are also warmongers;

      It is legiimate to hate Jews because we are greedy capitalist exploiters and at the same time, revolutionary communists;

      Is it any wonder that Jews are hated when we have a Chosen-People mentality, as well as an inferiority complex?

      Jews are attacked for being Zionists (you know those Zionists, the ones with the big noses!), and supporting “Genocide” of Arab children. Jews have become the new Nazis, (that is if you really believe what the Nazis did to the Jews Right?)!!!

      British Jewish spokesmen are then left in a position where they can either defend Israel and therefore show that yes, we Jews deserve what we get, or be forced to condemn Israel in order to deflect accusations that they have somehow caused this A/S themselves by their support of Zionism. This is itself A/S!

      Compare Rabbi Mirvis’ interview with the responses of the previous Chief Rabbi when confronted by these same accusations during previous Arab/Israeli conflicts. His response was to say that British Jews should not be blamed for what Israel is doing and then to issue public statements attacking Israel by saying that “the occupation” was “morally corrupting” in order to somehow deflect anti-Semitic accusations against Anglo Jewry. Rabbi Mirvis did not take that cowardly route and answered his accuser with facts, authority and dignity. It was a real Kiddush Hashem.

    2. I don’t think he is out of his depth (its hard to be on camera all the time and not trip up), however I agree he should have gone in much harder, and particularly challenged the interviewer about his assertions of occupation. Imagine for a moment if Shmuel Boteach had been appointed Chief Rabbi. There is no second guessing as to how he would have put this interviewer in his place. I believe we need someone more brazen like Boteach to put it out there with less diplomacy and more animation.

  4. This is a PERFECT example of Media Bias and it’s development: When it opened some years ago, I remember watching Sky News with great delight. While not exactly pro-Israel, coverage was at least fair – even to a fault. A breath of fresh air after so many years of never-ending BBC bias and often downright untruth.

    Then after a few months it happened: Massive, beautifully produced advertising for Qatar airlines flooded Sky screens. British Airways eat your heart out. Say no more! The limp and weary journalist-clone ‘interviewing’ (accusing?) the Rabbi is only doing what his masters at Sky were ordering him to do which is basically what the Thani family of Qatar were demanding of Sky management: Money Talks!

    By the way I thought the Rabbi handled his accuser well.
