Israel has been dealing with terrorism regularly for over 60 years. The excuses came fast and furious from people who can only disguise their Jew hatred in a shallow way. It is something that has always bothered me. It’s inconsistent and hypocritical.
I started getting more involved on the Web a few years ago and since then I have seen some changes. Firstly, most Jew haters hid behind nebulous language like “resistance,” “asymmetrical warfare,” and terms that when actually investigated show very clearly that in the case of the Middle East conflict, we almost never see the actual facts on the ground. They hid behind anti-colonialist rhetoric while supporting the rank colonialism of the Middle East.
We avoid looking at the real issues. We don’t want to admit that right now, in this time and place, the world is now at war and it’s losing.
All the Islamic terrorists have to do is continue with attacking because we cannot take the steps we need to take to ensure our safety while maintaining our moral code. Our own idiocy is working on their side. And I am not talking about J-Streeters and other assorted asshats who are more open in their idiocy, I am talking about our NEED to deny what this is, our desire to tell Islamists what they really feel and what they really think. We make excuses for them rather than stepping up to fight them. Tell me, does the grade school kid who is being bullied daily, really care if the kid beating him up daily is mistreated at home? I would say no, all that matters is that he is getting beaten up daily.
If we don’t smarten up, if we don’t start listening and paying attention, we are not just going to lose this fight, we will lose everything. You see they don’t have the same concepts of fair that we have, they honestly don’t care about OUR rules, they are fighting to win. Thankfully they are often not very bright or they would fight smarter. They rely on us being dumb, and that’s why some of us are waking up. We see what they are doing and we are calling it out.
A couple of years ago the anti Israel forces were much more open with their Jew hatred. Arab Muslim news outlets would print the most ridiculous anti Jew stuff and nobody questioned it, in fact they often excused it using the soft bigotry of low expectations. Even now with people calling them out, they are slow to change because they got away with it for so long and they still get away with it occasionally.
Now I know that was some serious gloom and doom but there is cause for hope. Recently in Calgary we had a counter rally against “Al Quds Day” where the good and decent people outnumbered the asshats by a large margin. That never would have happened a few years ago. In fact, I can recall going to those things alone on more than one occasion. So I know people are waking up. The Canadian government is finally starting to see that BDS is symptomatic, but that to treat symptoms you need to eradicate the root cause. Organizations like Bnei Brith and JNF are fighting back now when they are smeared by asshats, and that’s what we need. There can be no more equivocation, there must be strong answers given to these attacks. I am seeing more and more indigenous people stepping up and questioning the false narratives being thrown out there. There is cause for hope, but make no mistake, this will be a hard fight.
Here’s the thing: for 60 years nobody gave a shit when terror struck Israel, because it was easy to put it out of sight out of mind. BDS only really affected Jews right? Jew hate by its name is all about the Jews right? Wrong? The truth is that every step we allow Jew haters to take is a step that leads to a place none of us want to be. Every time we are silent, every time we say nothing, one more step. Europe didn’t just take those steps they helped the terrorists entrench the language of “resistance” and now they are paying for that. All those years they coddled and supported those terrorists and made excuses for them? Well those chickens are home to roost. Every time they excused Jew hate, they took another step. I think some people are seeing now how foolish that really was. Because now, the trouble is no longer somewhere else, it’s not on the horizon, it’s here and it’s not going away.
