NSW Young Greens Get Their Antisemitism On

Disturbing news from Australia, where the New South Wales Young Greens have gone full tilt on the antisemitism, boycotting the Jewish student organization in the name of BDS.

Kleon Toffetti (Facebook)

NSW Young Greens is boycotting the country’s largest Jewish student organisation.

In a move which the federal Greens failed to condemn, the NSW Young Greens told the Australasian Union of Jewish Students that it would have nothing to do with the student group’s Jewish events.

“We have a longstanding position of not supporting this organisation because … they support the occupation of Palestine illegally,” NSW Young Greens co-convener Kleon Toffetti confirmed to The Daily Telegraph.

Pressed on whether that effectively boycotted anyone who supported Israel’s right to exist, Mr Toffetti hung up.

AUJS, which represents 9000 Jewish university students across Australia and New Zealand, invited the Young Greens to an April 6 event with young political staffers from all sides of politics at NSW Parliament House.

“If you are able to attend it would be fantastic if one of you would … give a speech on why people should get involved in Greens and Young Greens,” AUJS said. “There will be ample time to mingle and sign interested people up.”

NSW Young Greens treasurer Eliza James replied: “The NSW Young Greens has a long history of declining to attend events by AUJS due to the continued support of the occupation of Palestine by your organisation. I will continue that tradition.”

AUJS has responded, condemning this antisemitism.

The Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) is angered and disappointed that the NSW Young Greens have informed AUJS it is their official policy to boycott Jewish students. AUJS, the peak representative body of thousands of Jewish tertiary students across Australia and New Zealand, is a pluralistic organisation committed to engaging Jewish students with political parties and activists across the spectrum.

The fact that the NSW Young Greens have chosen to boycott an opportunity to engage with Jewish students on account of their mistaken beliefs about AUJS’ attitudes towards foreign policy speaks volumes of their problematic attitudes towards the Jewish community.

To reduce Australian Jews entirely to their political perspectives on a conflict occurring overseas, and to erroneously pigeonhole the entire Jewish student community as ‘support(ing) the occupation of Palestine’ demonstrates the deep, systematic prejudices which pervade the NSW Young Greens.

This is in line with the far-left trend where hatred for Israel is so strong that it can result in the antisemitic effect where the Jewish community is boycotted for the supposed crime of self-defining its cultural, ethnic and national identity.

We are deeply concerned that the youth wing of the NSW Greens has a policy of refusing to engage with Jewish students. This makes a mockery of the Greens’ recent support for diversity and multiculturalism in the context of the 18C debate.

We hope the NSW Young Greens are swiftly and clearly condemned by the senior party to avoid any suggestion that the Young Greens contempt for the Jewish community is shared by the senior leadership.

AUJS calls on the Leader of the Australian Greens, Richard Di Natale, to unequivocally condemn the executive of the NSW Young Greens and clarify that the Australian Greens want nothing to do with boycotts of the Jewish community.

It is inconceivable that these young leaders could one day become future leaders of the Greens.

A look at Kleon Toffetti’s Facebook page reveals the extend of the prejudice at work here. For instance, he has posted the following video, which makes a point about how it is wrong to stereotype an entire group for the actions and opinions of some (he has since made these FB posts private).

But apparently, this courtesy should not be afforded to Jews.

And here, he posts the NSW Young Greens clumsy reply to the AUJS response.

Note the comment at the bottom, which looks a hell of a lot like bullying. Want to know who that ‘like’ is from?

Once again, we see an example of the “anti-Zionists-not-antisemites” of the far left at work. And I love the fact they are too dumb to hide their Jew hatred.

Update: As you can see, Kleon made private the Facebook posts that shine a light on the bullying and antisemitism. But I have screenshots. The first post was a video, so no screenshot, but fact he removed it should tell you everything. I hit a nerve.

Update: Kleon throws his beloved Greens under the bus.
