As I have already posted, Poland’s president recently signed legislation that outlaws blaming Poland as a nation for Holocaust crimes committed by Nazi Germany. At the time, the president was trying hard to convince the world that while there were some wicked Poles, the Polish nation as a whole did not participate, and the government at the time even fought against the Nazis.
Now it seems that Poland is stepping up its charm offensive, with the following video being shown to YouTube users in Israel. And it is…well, offensive (hat tip: Yosef).
While it is true there were no Polish death camps, Poles suffered under the Nazis, and there were Poles who did much to save Jews, it is also true that there were plenty of Polish Nazi collaborators and those who themselves murdered Jews. The real history is complex, and certainly not the simple version represented in this video.
