London-born David Landau has been appointed as Haaretz editor-in-chief. And while Allison Kaplan Sommer categorizes him as “very Orthodox and at the same time, very left-wing”, Arutz Sheva is saying the following:
Landau, a former Jerusalem Post editor is seen as more centrist, perhaps even leaning to the right. Galei Tzahal Radio pointed out that Landauís son is the director-general of the Knesset Speakerís Bureau and “is even” a Yesha [disputed territories – Ed) resident.
Some see the decision by publisher Amos Schocken as a direct signal to the many who believed they were in line for the job, as well as a possible sign the left wing paper by be taking a right turn.
I hope the latter is true because I can hardly stomach reading their articles as it stands.
