Actor Johnny Depp would like to make a clarification: When he calledAmerica a “dumb puppy that has big teeth”, he didn’t mean it in a bad way.

Johnny Depp has insisted that he never called America ”dumb” for going to war with Iraq, reports BBC Online.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star provoked an angry reaction last year when quoted as saying the United States was like “a dumb puppy that has big teeth.”

But he told Vanity Fair magazine: “I would never insult the American people. I used the metaphor of a puppy dog, but I never said ignorant puppy dog. I said it’s a very young country compared to old Europe, or Asia.”

Depp said he received hate mail from ”right-wing military types” after the comments were published in German magazine Stern last September.

Now waiting for a clarification on what he means by “right-wing military types.”
