As convicted murderer Marwan Barghouti declares his intention to run for the position of PA President, soon-to-be-the-ex U.S. Secretary of State, Colin Powell, states the bleeding obvious:
The sudden re-emergence of Marwan Barghouti as a rival candidate to Mahmoud Abbas as chairman of the Palestinian Authority has spurred widespread criticism within Fatah, as U.S. Secretary of State said the challenge noted that the candidacy of the jailed militant Fatah leader could be “problematic.”
Here are the top 5 reasons why Barghouti’s candidacy might be “problematic”:
5. It would be hard to conduct an exit poll when Barghouti can’t even exit jail.
4. Barghouti will be too preoccupied with the security fence…surrounding the jail.
3. How can the PLO Arabs bend the rules and have a leader in jail, when Barghouti himself can’t even bend over to pick up the soap in the shower?
2. Forget “right of return.” Think “right to one telephone call per day.”
1. It is hard to shake the hands of visiting leaders when you are handcuffed.
