The media are today reporting that Britney Spears just got herself a Hebrew tattoo (also currently being reported on the Internet Movie Database).
Britney Spears is taking her secret Kabbalah lessons seriously – she’s had a Hebrew symbol tattooed on the back of her neck.The pop superstar, who has dabbled with the mystical offshoot of Judaism after being introduced to it by pal Madonna, seems to be getting serious about all things Kabbalah.Her new Hebrew symbol, which represents “the power of healing,” is one of two new tattoos Britney has had inked on her – the other is a personal symbol of her love for new husband Kevin Federline.
There are two problems with this report:
1. So what?
2. This is old news. Very old.
This site (warning: contains a rather risque picture of the pop tart) carries this report from early last year:
April 2004 – Britney’s tattoo on the back of her neck means she’s taking resposibility for everything in her life and accepting she can heal herself in all ways. Her tattoo is a combination of three Hebrew letters taken from the Kabbalah: Mem, Hey, Shin; which evokes the consciousness of healing. According to the Kabbalah, we are responsible for absolutely everything concerning our lives. Once we fully accept this responsibility then we activate the energy of healing.”The seller of the necklace (below) with the same world, wrote “This very unique necklace is made according to the Kabbalah. The necklace has one of G_d’s name – Mem, Hey, Shin; this combination brings you the energy of Healing. This absolutely beautiful necklace is a strong meditation tool as well. Meditate for yourself as well as other people who also need Healing. Whenever you need to use this energy, just scan these letters, close your eyes, visualize them in your mind and share the healing light.”SHIN = the eternal fire
HEY= life’s dynamic – run / come back
MEM = wisdom source
And although the Mirror (May 3rd, 2004) reports that the tattoo is just gibberish, it seems to connote Healing, at least according to this new age/Kabbalah cult. In fact, head Kabbalah charlatan Berg recommends that you can help the Tsunami victims by meditating “daily on Mem Hey Shin, the 72 Name of God for Healing, to relieve the severe pain and anguish of those affected by this disaster.”
That, and distributing to them what they need more than anything -Kabbalah Water and Zohars, of course.
