Update: And now his brother has been given up by Syria, who previously denied harboring any fugitives.
Iraqi officials said Sunday that Syria captured and handed over Saddam Hussein’s half brother, a most-wanted leader in the Sunni-based insurgency, ending months of Syrian denials that it was harboring fugitives from the ousted Saddam regime. Iraq authorities said Damascus acted in a gesture of goodwill.*
I am surprised that Saddam had a half-brother who was alive. I thought he had murdered them all.
* Goodwill = transparent attempt to curry favor at a time when Syria is facing all kinds of pressure for their involvement in the Hariri assassination, as well as terrorism in Iraq and Israel.
