In an interview with Israel Radio, PA National Security Advisor Jibril Rajoub announced the latest PLO Arab gesture for peace: a temporary ceasefire.
Palestinian militant factions have agreed to cease all attacks within the Israel’s pre-1967 borders, Palestinian Authority National Security Advisor Jibril Rajoub told Israel Radio on Wednesday. “There is a consensus among Palestinians: No more terror attacks against Israel inside the Green Line,” Rajoub said.“And there is a second agreement on a hudna [temporary cease-fire],” said Rajoub, “in order to allow negotiations between the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority.” *
So while the terrorists announce temporary ceasefires to which they already committed, yet never honored, and the PA does nothing to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure, which is something to which they committed when they accepted the Road Map for Peace, we simply hand over towns, release prisoners, and allow the terrorists to regroup.
Even though Rajoub admits that terrorism will continue, he claims that the PLO Arab terrorists recognize the State of Israel.
However, Rajoub said, even this agreement cannot promise a complete end to the terrorism.“There have been and will be isolated incidents,” he said. “But there is an agreement between all the factions to allow the PA to recognize the state of Israel and give Israelis security and peace within the Green Line.”Rajoub also spoke of a historic turnabout in the radical Islamic movement Hamas, which is now ready to take part in the upcoming Palestinian parliamentary elections in July.“Hamas is ready to join the Palestinian Liberation Organization,” said Rajoub.
And here is evidence of Hamas’ ‘turnabout’ and recognition of the State of Israel:

That green shape they are holding up looks very much like the entire State of Israel to me.
* This Ha’aretz report seems to suggest that the terrorists are not even pretending that they will halt attacks against Israelis living in the disputed territories. But the JPost reports that the ceasefire would also cover Israeli residents of the territories.
Update: My bad. Rajoub only claimed that Hamas and the other terror groups would “allow the PA to recognize the State of Israel.” They didn’t promise to recognize Israel themselves. But my point remains the same: why, exactly, are we handing over towns and releasing prisoners?
