I just love a happy ending.
An elite IDF paratroop unit operating in a village near the West Bank city of Tul Karm early Thursday killed a wanted Islamic Jihad man believed to have played a central role in a suicide bombing outside a beachfront Tel Aviv nightclub last month.
Five people were killed and scores injured when the bomber set off his explosive belt close to midnight on February 25 beside the Stage nightclub.Family members identified the dead man as Mohammed Abu Hazneh, 28, a member of the radical Islamic Jihad group.Security officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that in addition to his involvement in the Tel Aviv bombing, the man was part of a cell that had also built a car bomb that IDF troops disarmed last week, and was planning further attacks.—-Muayyed Hussein, mayor of the nearby village of Baka al-Sharkiya, confirmed the death but added he did not know if the man was a militant. No IDF troops were injured in the incident.
But sadly, one animal was killed during the operation.
In the pre-dawn hours Thursday, members of the IDF paratroop reconnaissance unit surrounded the wanted man in a structure in Nazlat Al Wusta village near Tul Karm, and called on him several times to surrender.Initial reports indicated that the troops sent a dog into the building to locate the fugitive holed up inside. The Jihad man shot the dog dead, and opened fire on the soldiers.Soldiers threw grenades inside the building to try to get him to leave the building, and after that failed, an IDF bulldozer razed the home, killing the man, the army said. The man’s body was later found in the ruins. A pistol was also found.
I think the terrorist got off easy. We should have allowed a dozen PETA activists into the building. That would have guaranteed him a more torturous death.
