The Weblog awards season is upon us, and it looks like some of my fellow J-bloggers have been nominated for the 2006 Weblog Awards.
I have always maintained that these awards mean nothing except for a traffic boost to the competing blogs (I have even said the same of the JIBs, which I founded). But sometimes that can be reason enough to take part and enjoy the experience.
I am happy to discover that two fellow J-bloggers have made it through to the finals. My friend Dave with his blog Treppenwitz, as well as Elder of Ziyon, will be fighting it out in the competitive Best Middle East or Africa Blog category.
It is also good to see Egyptian Sandmonkey through to the finals, with whom I have debated on occasion, and for whom I have much respect.
And let’s not forget my friends Brian of London and “Tom Paine”, whose podcast Shire Network News has made it through in the Best Podcast category. If you are not already listening to SNN, you really are missing out.
So if you intend on voting, please consider these fine blogs and podcasts. In any event, it is worthwhile to visit them.
Update: I just noticed that Israellycool and the Israellycool Podcast were nominated in the aforementioned two categories. Thanks to the kind soul(s) who nominated them.
