The Day In Israel: Thurs Dec 9th, 2010

The IAF scored some direct hits on Hamashole terror sites overnight, including a weapons manufacturing site and a smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip, in response to the firing of rockets at Israel’s southern Communities over the past two days.

The rockets brought the number of “projectiles” fired into Israel this year to 200.

Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)

4:50PM: The Yemin Orde Youth Aliyah Village is located on Mt. Carmel, in Israel. It serves 500 children that have come to Israel, often as orphans.

And they desperately need our help.

The horrific wildfire in Israel’s northern region is over. Thanks to our generous donors, reconstruction and repair to Yemin Orde Youth Village will be a reality. The wildfire has destroyed 40% of the community but not our resolve to rebuild our village, home to more than 500 children from 16 countries around the world. We need the strength of our supporters to help our community come to grips with this devastating fire. We have much work to do!

Please join me in helping out.

It goes without saying that you contribute to this worthy cause before entertaining the thought of contributing to the Aussie Dave New Computer Fund.

3:15PM: Haáretz reports:

Nearly half of Israel’s math teachers unqualified to teach their subject

Fully 42 percent of high school math teachers with college degrees did not obtain their degree in math or any related field, according to an internal report by the Central Bureau of Statistics that was recently given to the Education Ministry.

Case in point: 42% is not “nearly half”

9:30AM: More ugliness from antisemitic old windbag Helen Thomas.
