  1. I’m a sucker for this kind of programming. I realize I’m being manipulated on how I’m supposed to think of combat as heroic with the dramatic music and narration. While I’m watching I don’t really think of warfare as the ultimate failure of mankind trying to work things out peacefully. The producers make it all too much fun. I get the same feeling watching “Greatest Tank Battles” on the Military Channel when the Israelis kicked the crap out of the Syrians on the Golan Heights in 1973.

    1. Shortly after the Six-Day War, Buddy Hackett told Johnny Carson that no victory is better than peace, and that Israel will continue to beat up the Arabs until they get it.

  2. I recall an IAF F4 doing a flyby about 20 meters over the beach I was on in Israel decades ago. You could see the helmeted pilot glancing down at us. The suddenness of the roar out of nowhere was a heart-stopper.
