Gan Sacher on Yom Ha’atzmaut

The weather was lousy, cold and windy, and threatening to rain,

Cooking outside on Independence Day

but that could not stop Israelis from seriously grilling meat.

Israeli flag on Independence DAy

In Gan Sacher on Israeli Independence Day many people wore one Israeli flag,

and this man walked by with two.

Can you tell this guy is an art and film student?

picnic with blue and white colors

I love how this family really got into the blue and white theme of the day.

There were a lot fewer people in the park this year because of the weather,

people in park covered in shaving cream

but that didn’t stop these folks from having a traditional holiday foam fight.

She wanted her photo taken enough to stop and pose at what was quite a party.

But my absolute favorite moment had to be when an Israeli family stopped me when

girl wearing an Israeli flag

they saw me take this photograph and asked me to take their photo.

Would it be published in the Jerusalem Post, they asked?

No, I told them, even better, it’s for IsraellyCool!

So as promised, here they are!  Sorry, but I was laughing so hard on of the way home

that I forgot all their names.

What a great way to end a day celebrating Israel 65.
