Thank You For Your Courage France! BDS, Just Say Non!

bdsYou have no idea what it takes for someone raised in the UK to salute the moral courage of France. Who can forget the words of the Mayor of Paris upon greeting the invading Nazi hordes: “Table for 150,000 sir?”. Well I’ll try OK.

Well a French court has imposed pretty stiff fines on some BDSHoles just for their participation in activities that single out ONLY the Jewish state of Israel for discrimination and hatred.

French court imposed a $1,300 fine on members of an anti-Israel group who called on supermarket shoppers to boycott Israeli products.

The Court of Appeals of Colmar near Strasbourg fined each of the group’s 12 members individually on Wednesday for their participation in a pro-boycott activity in 2009-2010, which the court qualified as “provocation to discrimination.” The court also gave the activists a suspended jail sentence, according to a report by the CRIF umbrella group of French Jewish communities.

What’s interesting and notable about this case is that it does not concern technicalities or legal procedural issues which most court cases brought by the other side seem to.

This was a case about the fundamentals of whether it is illegally discriminatory and racist to call for a boycott of Israel alone.

Speaking exclusively to Israellycool, BDS legal expert Andrew Hamilton said this:

Yes, the BDS movement’s claims of their rare Court wins being an endorsement are complete rubbish. Their wins are on technicalities that say nothing about the substantive lawfulness of the BDS movement. Our wins are all on substantive grounds that say the BDS movement engages in unlawful racial discrimination.

Andrew is the Israeli / Australian lawyer currently suing BDSHole professor Jack Lynch. We featured his tremendous TV interview with Australian news a few weeks ago too.
