Saudi Historian: Women Should Not Be Allowed to Drive Lest They Get Raped

Meet Saudi historian Saleh Al-Saadoon, whose name rhymes with buffoon in a very fitting coincidence.

He believes women should not be allowed to drive because..it might lead to raping.

And here I was thinking it was to protect the woman’s ovaries and pelvis.

I suspect the real reason is these guys are threatened by women driving because it will make it easier for them to leave their misogynistic husbands. Or run them over.

      1. Sardonic humour. It’s funny because it’s putting the onus where it SHOULD be, instead of where it is. (That having been said, I’m a firm believer in taking reasonable precautions to protect oneself.)

        1. The onus should be on convincing criminals not to commit crimes? Or on destroying even the pretense of justice when men are accused, as has been done recently in California? (If a married man in California takes a university course, does he basically have to stop having normal relations with his wife?)

          1. Huh?

This is a poster that explains to those men (like the cleric in the video) who think(for example) that a woman with a car at the side of the road is an invitation to rape her that no, it isn’t.

If you are one of the (vast, vast) majority of men who do NOT need to be told any of the “tips” in the poster, then it isn’t aimed at you.

False accusations are another issue entirely.

  1. I’ve watched the clip twice – priceless! The really funny part of it is that Suadi ‘historian’ Saleh Al-Sadoon is actually only expressing what is permissible within Sharia and the current reality of women’s rights in Suadi Arabia. Mind-you the woman TV host has come a long way.

Precisely why I chuckled when Zippy Livni insisted in holding ‘peace negotiations’ with the palestinians. Ignorant in her hubris she failed to recognize the insult offered Abbas & Erek by having to ‘negotiate’ with a woman. A master-stroke by Bibi?

  2. Given that Saudi Arabia does arguably have an actual rape culture (at least towards certain women, and as opposed to the fake statistics pushed by the DOJ regarding American universities) he may have a point.
