Remember Israeli Asaf Goren, who dazzled the judges on You Think You Can Dance at the LA audition?

Well, a lot has happened since then.

Asaf was subsequently eliminated from the contest – not because he lacks mad skillz, but because of his struggles with choreography. And a “blow-up” with the judges did not help matters.

Then this happened:

What a difference a day makes. Our early “So You Think You Can Dance” predictions ranked Alain “Hurrikane” Lauture as the frontrunner to win season 12, but at the start of this year’s first live performance show, host Cat Deeley announced the street dancer’s withdrawal from the competition due to injury.

Lauture took to Tumblr to explain, “This year it is not meant to be, I had a pretty serious injury. During practice I had a meniscus tear … I did all I can to heal up on time, but unfortunately meniscus is serious and it’s better to heal 100% then to keep having a recurring injury. Us dancers feel like super heroes but we are using are bodies and we must protect it, respect it, and take care of it.”

Taking Lauture’s place on Team Street is 23-year-old Israeli dancer Asaf Goren, who had fallen short of the top 20 after struggling with choreography and clashing with judges during his Las Vegas callback. On the first night of live competition, he still struggled to learn new choreography, but he excelled when he finally made it to the dance floor, earning raves for his first routine with fellow street dancers Lily Frias, Burim Jusufi and Jaja Vankova.

Since getting his second chance, things have started to look up for Asaf, although his stubbornness could come back to haunt him..

Can Asaf pull it together? I’ll keep you posted!
