Anti-Israel Fauxtography Used By Member of Turkey’s Ruling AKP Party

Yavuz Değirmenci is a member of the executive board of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) party.

He’s also a big, fat liar.

Alas, that image is not from last night’s the IAF strikes on Gaza. It is not even from Gaza. And the IAF was not involved. Reverse image search reveals it is a photo of US-led coalition jets pounding suspected Islamic State targets in the Syrian town of Kobani in 2014.

Incidentally, his AKP party has been showing better will towards Israel.

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has extended an invitation to the embassy’s chargé d’affaires, Amira Oron, for the iftar to be hosted on June 27, Hürriyet Daily News learned from reliable sources.
Oron accepted the invitation and will attend the iftar, officials from the Israeli Embassy in Ankara said.

The event on June 27 is the ninth such iftar the ruling AKP has hosted at their headquarters.

The invitation to Oron was extended at a time when senior officials from both Turkey and Israel said a deal had been reached to normalize ties and end a rift between the two countries dating back to 2010.

Something Değirmenci is not a happy camper about, as this conversation with fellow Israel hater Liam O’Hare indicates.

I would keep my eyes open dealing with Turkey. Their interests may not necessarily coincide with Israel’s.
