Vox have come out with a number of videos on the so-called settlements, the communities living in the ancient Jewish areas of Judea and Samaria.
The videos are refreshingly factual compared to what we have seen, although I still have some issues with them.
Here is part one.
A good overview, although I feel the journalist did not explain the impact of the withdrawal from Gaza (i.e. increased rockets and terror, rather than a move towards more peaceful relations). Also, he seems to have taken the view that the “settlements” are an unmitigated disaster for the palestinian economy, ignoring the benefits they have afforded (for example, before the “Intifadas”, the settlements benefited the palestinian economy as Jews more often purchased from the nearby palestinians). Then there’s the seeming acceptance of the position that a future palestinian state cannot exist with these communities. Why should it be judenrein? The Jewish state of Israel has plenty of Arab communities.
Here’s part two.
Another rather accurate look at life in these communities, and the types of people who live there. Again, my only gripe is that the journalist does not seem to consider the possibility of a palestinian state with these communities, talking only of the difficulty of removing them.
