9-11 Texts Supplied to 6th Graders Even Worse: Taught Israel Has ‘Shady History’

Yesterday, I posted about the false history being taught on 9-11 to 5th graders at Louis E. Stocklmeir Elementary School in Sunnyvale, California, text taken from a company called Newsela.

It turns out that the Newsela text supplied to 6th graders was even worse, judging by this Facebook comment to Newsela by a teacher at a different school (a teacher who seems to take her job seriously and vet for accuracy articles from outside sources)

Shady? It certainly seems like someone at Newsela has an agenda. And speaking about shady, Newsela removed Lesley’s comment from their page.

Note in their response that they admit their articles can have errors or bias. How is this acceptable? They have one job! I expect them to put procedures in place so this is not the accepted reality any more. And all schools subscribing to the website should be made aware of this issue, so teachers can be extra vigilant.

Meanwhile someone who works at one of the schools has taken exception to my previous post exposing the use of the text at Sunnyvale, California.

Again, I go back to the Newsela comment above – they admit their articles have inaccuracies and bias, so they should surely not be a trusted source. In any event, I don’t think teachers should be skimming through the things they plan to teach, without first checking them.

As for the claim I believe a teacher would intentionally try to “poison” children, it could happen, but I never said that. I called their conduct in not vetting the article “irresponsible”, not “malicious.”

  1. “updated”? Is Israel-hatred for sixth graders now out of date? This isn’t an “error”, except in the sense that certainly anti-Israel newspapers make all sorts of “errors” in reporting on Israel and somehow, magically, they defy the statistical odds and all trend in one direction – against Israel.

Another couple of generations of this kind of ‘education’ and support for Israel in America will be greatly reduced. Propaganda, especially in the guise of educating young minds, does work.
