I don’t see anything divisive about this speech – just facts about the Middle East Conflict and a show of love for Israel.
Tom Rogan sums it up well in the Washington Examiner:
Describing a pro-Israel speech as an effort to divide us isn’t merely a dumb statement. It’s an intellectually pathetic rendering of peak-Hollywood. Penn’s tweet here is also utter hypocrisy.
After all, by attacking those with pro-Israeli sentiments for holding those sentiments, Penn is effectively telling the adherents of those views that they are inherently immoral.
And if that isn’t divisive then I do not know what is.
Not that this is surprising. Penn is a known Israel hater who last year donated his $25,000-prize for winning MasterChef Showdown to UNRWA – a vile organization that perpetuates the conflict.
So to paraphrase Penn himself, looking forward to the day he sticks to his day job and stays out of political commentary.
