WATCH: Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman Spoofs Sacha Baron Cohen Spoof

In Sacha Baron Cohen’s recent Showtime series Who Is America?, one of the characters he plays is Colonel Erran Morad, a spoof of the macho Israeli counter-terrorism instructor.

Some have expressed disdain for the character, like unsuccessful Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore (who was pranked by Cohen in character as Morad), who said he “embarrasses, humiliates, and mocks” the Jewish state.

But clearly not Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who put out this pre Rosh Hashana video parodying Erran Morad (with the caption “Happy new year to IDF soldiers. The nation of Israel loves you!”)

Well played, although I get the feeling the Defense Minister is going to land in hot water over this.

Update: Matan Gavish might actually be the inspiration behind Erran Morad. Which means this may be a spoof of a spoof spoofing him.

Ok, my head hurts.
