Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski tweeted this photo from his meeting with Israeli ambassador Dan Oryan.
“This photo with Israeli ambassador Dan Oryan, is a motive and additional reason why exercise is very important, and often entertaining.”
I know diplomacy can involve mental gymnastics, and that we regularly have to jump through hoops on the international stage, but the reason for the ambassador’s moves was something else entirely; he was informing the president about the “Let’s Go Together” initiative aimed at supporting people with disabilities.
I had a very good meeting today at the presidents house in Skopje. I told the president among many other things about the exhibition “jumping together” that we opened supporting inclusion.
The president asked if i can really do that… and asked if i can show him here in the office.i said why not…It is for a good cause.
And after publishing the official meeting he shared also my less official picture, this one.
I know it is not the traditional diplomacy. But, if i have to stand on my hands to promote the idea of inclusion and the partnership with people with disabilities, i am ready to do it again. in many places, i am ready to jump together and stand on my hands….
I hope no one is offended.
I’m not sure what is more impressive – the handstand or the fact our ambassador hoped not to offend anyone!
All kidding aside, what a wonderful initiative. More here.
