Hana Shawa, the Palestinian Ambassador to Albania, has caused an uproar for admitting that Israel has the right to defend herself.
In a meeting with the Imam of Shkodra Muhamet Sytari, she said that the palestinian Arabs do not oppose the sentence “Israel has the right to defend itself if it is under attack.”
According to the Watan website, some activists stated that the circulating video was cut with the aim of distorting her words; what she really said was
“We do not object to the statement that Israel has the right to defend itself, if it is under attack, but Israel is an occupying state, and the occupation is the attack, starting with Jerusalem, the West Bank, and all 67 territories. It is an attack on every Palestinian citizen, and no Palestinian is safe from this.”
“We saw during the last attack the targeting of the media, children and women. This is not a defense, but the killing of defenseless innocents.”
However, the same report mentioned a television interview, in which she said “The Israeli army is regular and enjoys shooting accuracy, and it must be accurate in aiming at its targets during its bombing of the Gaza Strip.” Shawa also mourned the palestinian Arabs killed in the recent Israeli strikes, and expressed her grief over the killing of Israelis.
Wow, she is in trouble now.
