Last week, I posted about the fallout following an engagement party of members of the Orthodox Jewish community in Melbourne, currently in lockdown, which included vile antisemitism and irresponsible news coverage.
The Daily Mail has posted more about it, revealing the identities of the hosts while lamenting that the young engaged couple are in hiding, and their parents have had to hire a private security firm, all because of the antisemitic threats they have been receiving.
The Daily Mail also included some of the hate-filled messages left on the voicemail of one of the Jewish community institutions. The discrepancy between the calm, laconic tone of some of these people with the words that come out of their mouths is chilling to say the least.
Antisemitism in #Australia is unfortunately a thing, albeit at smaller levels than we see in places like the US and Europe pic.twitter.com/LIEFd54aXm

This should be a wake-up call to the Jewish community that no matter how tolerant a country seems, there will always be those who detest us with their entire being.
