The Global Times has a pictorial titled Palestinian workers make chocolate Ras el-Abd at sweet factory in Hebron. This follows similar photos and pictorials over the years, like this Alamy photo from Jan 2017, Xinhua’s Palestinian workers make chocolate Ras el-Abd in West Bank city (Jan 2018), and this Getty Images photo from a year ago.
While the media seems obsessed with publishing photos of palestinian Arabs making Ras el-Abd, none of the media seem overly concerned with what Ras el-Abd actually means.
An extremely popular product by Lebanese foods manufacturer, Gandour, this one was known, and is still referred to, as “Ras El Abed” – negro/slave’s head.
Do you think Black Lives Matter and the wokesters will make a peep over this vile racism? Yeah, me neither.
Nor do I think we will get anything but crickets over Hanan Ashrawi’s anti-Black racism, essentially calling US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield an ‘Uncle Tom’:
For an African-American woman to adopt the patronizing tone & attitude of the colonial "white man's burden" is not only offensive but also a betrayal of our struggle against racism, misogyny & white supremacy. We know how to educate our children; just end #IsraeliApartheid. https://t.co/jGSBRgD2Rd
