Palestinian Arabs and Haters Co-opt Tragic Death of Moroccan Boy Rayan Awram

You may have already heard about the tragic death of 5-year-old Morrocan boy Rayan Awram, who got trapped in a well for 5 days before rescuers were able to reach him and retrieve his body.

For normal people (including Israel’s PM), the reaction is one of sadness.

For those consumed by hatred of Jews and the Jewish state, it is yet another opportunity to co-opt this tragedy and make it all about them.

Apparently, this also includes Naziha Maarij, the leader of Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (auto-translation follows):

Naziha Maarij, the Moroccan leader and head of women’s affairs at the International Union of Muslim Scholars, expressed her pride in the position of the Palestinian people and their solidarity with their Moroccan brother in the case of the child Rayan stuck in a well he fell into 5 days ago.

Maarij said in an exclusive interview with “Shehab” agency, “The Palestinian people are the most pained people and have been exposed to these accidents, and hundreds of children in Gaza experienced Rayan’s experience in different ways because of the Zionist occupation.”

She added, “This position is not alien to the people of Palestine, and I confirm that the Moroccan memory views Palestine with one issue, and we live by the belief that Palestine is part of our faith.”

This is not surprising, given that she is not exactly a fan of Morocco’s normalization with Israel:

The Moroccan Justice and Development Party (JDP) has rejected attempts by Arab and Gulf states to normalise relations with the Israeli entity, describing them as “dwarfs and their fate as the dustbin of history.”

The party’s leader, Naziha Maarij said in an exclusive interview with Shehab News Agency that “the people who normalise relations with the Zionist entity are dwarfs controlled by America and the Zionist entity and their destiny is the dustbin of history as their predecessors.”

Tell us how you really feel!

If that wasn’t bad enough, she thinks palestinian Arab terrorists could have actually helped save Rayan:

Commenting on Moroccan activists’ tweets on social media about the possibility of Morocco using the capabilities of the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip, which has a long history of digging tunnels, Maarij said, “The Gaza resistance has accumulated experience in tunnels and experienced people, and we wish we benefited from its experience and historical accumulation of them to save the child Rayan.”

Not The Onion.

If anyone could have helped him, it was Israel, given our history of helping at the scene of humanitarian disasters all around the world (not that I am suggesting there was a chance to save him). But given our experience comes from dealing with palestinian Arab terrorism, I guess, in a way, they could have indirectly helped save him had we succeeded.

Update: Well, actually

The Institute for Palestine Studies published a detailed report on Gaza’s Tunnel Phenomenon in the summer of 2012. It reported that tunnel construction in Gaza has resulted in a large number of child deaths.

“At least 160 children have been killed in the tunnels, according to Hamas officials”

The author, Nicolas Pelham, explains that Hamas uses child laborers to build their terror tunnels because, “much as in Victorian coal mines, they are prized for their nimble bodies”.
