Where I Out Creator of Terror-Glorifying Video Game Fursan as an Antisemite

Last week, I exposed how someone created for palestinian-terror glorifying video game Fursan al-Aqsa: The Knights of the Al-Aqsa Mosque a MOD which used the character Kratos, created by Jewish video game designer David Jaffe. I surmised it might infringe his copyright, but decided to ask Jaffe myself.

The game’s creator Nidal Nijm jumped in on the thread and after some back and forth with David Jaffe, the latter pledged to live stream his playing of the game. Which he did.

I was shocked and this post was originally going to be all about that. But after tweeting back and forth with David, I realized he really does not know much at all about the conflict. He was reacting as a video game developer, not someone who is necessarily anti-Israel. So I decided to take this as an opportunity to try educating him instead of shaming him.

Meanwhile, Nijm jumped in again and claimed, among other things, that he has nothing against Jews:

Leaving aside the inherent bigotry in his assertion that our Ethiopian soldiers must be Christian, it took me all of 2 minutes to find the receipts that he was lying about having nothing against Jews:

Of course, like most antisemites before him, Nijm could not just admit to his Jew-hatred, coming up with a litany of bad explanations:

David Jaffe, who until this point was giving Nijm the benefit of the doubt with pretty much everything he was claiming, did not respond to Nijm’s lame defenses. But he did respond to my tweet “outing” Nijm:

So I take this as a small, but important, step in perhaps helping this popular video game designer with a large following understand more of what is truly driving the conflict.

And I hope everyone else learned something too: when ignorance, not malice, is involved, the carrot approach can be more effective than the stick. Had I just gone ahead and shamed David Jaffe, would he have been more likely to understand the Israeli point of view?
