The U19 Israeli Football team has qualified for the U20 World Cup for the very first time.
As we noted in our previous post, to qualify for the elite 8 team U19 European Championships was an accomplishment in itself so to make the top 4 and advance to the World Cup is one of the most stunning accomplishments in Israeli sport.
The interesting wrinkle of this is that the 2023 U20 World Cup is happening in Indonesia whose rocky relationship with Israel is well known. Sport has the ability to build bridges where none existed previously. Wouldn’t it be nice if something could spring out of this.
