Earlier this month, rapper 50 Cent performed to two sold-out crowds in Israel, making for some very unhappy Israel-hating chappies.
Allow me to make them even unhappier.
Yesterday my friend Eric Rubin told me how he met 50 Cent at the NBA Summer League:
50 cent was running through the casino in Vegas, with a bunch of kids running after him, trying to get autographs. I ran around the kids and approached him from the front. I looked at him and said “Excuse me 50 Cent, I would like to thank you for making the trip to Israel.”
50 Cent actually stopped – this was the first time he stopped – and he said “Hey man, no problem. I love Israel.” And I said to him “I just want to let you know as a Jew and as an American, not a lot of people do what you do, and it really means a lot. I want to thank you and let you know.” He responded “I love Israel. Tel Aviv is probably my favorite city in the world. I am definitely going back!”
I asked him if he minded taking a photo, and let everyone know he was going to come back to Tel Aviv. He said “no” and then grabbed my camera and took the selfie!
It was great to see @50cent at #NBA2K23SummerLeague after his sold out shows in @TelAviv We both agree @TelAviv is amazing. Thank you @50cent for making the trip to #Israel See you there next time! pic.twitter.com/3VpGtGrwqA
